Autism Friendly Surrey

Autism Friendly Surrey

On 1st April 2025 Autism by Experience became the lead partner in the Surrey County Council Autism Friendly Communities project.

We will be encouraging shops, services and businesses to be more inclusive for autistic and other neurodivergent people by offering advice and training. We will be publishing information about quiet hours and inclusive activities as we develop the project.

We are guided by the five Autism Friendly Communities groups whose members include autistic people, family carers and people working in businesses and services. There are five groups across Surrey - Guildford and Waverley, North West Surrey, East Surrey, Frimley and Surrey Downs (mid Surrey).

The groups meet online once every 2 months on a Tuesday either at 10am or 12noon. Use this link to join your local group

Quiet Hours

We are currently researching the quiet hours that shops, businesses and services offer.

We have mapped the quiet hours that are offered by major supermarkets and you can download this handout at the bottom of this page.

More information will be published when ready.

Inclusive Activities

We are currently researching the inclusive leisure activities offered across Surrey for both children and adults.

We want to help to create more opportunities for people to take part in activities and make new friends.

We will be publishing information about these once we have done this research.
